How Not To Lose Your Blog Visitors

blogging tips October 7th, 2007

I’ve been conducting some experiments on retaining the blog visitors. The rules are very simple, but somewhat it is hard to implement if you don’t repeat it with consistency. In fact,  a lot of successful websites depend on returning visitors to account for a major part of their traffic. For a new blog, to build the credibility of the blog will consume a lot of hard works and efforts. Since gaining visitors is a hard work, therefore we need to practice some tips to retain our blog visitors.

Rules of not losing your visitors

  • Kiss, Keep It Short and Simple. Before you are buying the domain name, you should think a word that short and easily be remembered by the visitors. A short term memory can resist within 48 hours. In order to turn the short term memory into a long term memory, a simple yet meaningful word can help the brain to make an input to the memory. Therefore, a domain within 2-3 syllables is appropriate to make your visitors keep remember about your blog.
  • Start a forum, chatbox, comment function is the most best practice to retain your blog’s visitors. This type of media can ensure yourselves to interact with your blog’s readers.  As conversations build up, a sense of community will also follow and your visitors will come back to your site almost religiously every day.
  •  Update frequently with fresh content. The blog posting frequency can determine whether your blog readers should stay on the site or not. This is the most widely known and most effective method of attracting returning visitors, but this is also the least carried out one because of the laziness of webmasters. This is some useful information on frequent basis of posting at Guide on blog posting frequency - part 1
  • Hold puzzles, quizzes and games. If you have more money, organizing a competition will give your blog an exposure in the blogosphere. The prizes relatively not very expensive, but can give some value added to them. Money, domain, hosting, ebook and custom design template of wordpress  will be a good choice of prizes. Just imagine how many office workers procrastinate at work every day, and you will be able to gauge how many people will keep visiting your site if you provide a very interesting or addicting way of entertainment.
  • Carry out polls or surveys. Polls and surveys are other forms of interaction that you should definitely consider adding to your site. They provide a quick way for visitors to voice their opinions and to get involved in your website. Be sure to publish polls or surveys that are strongly relevant to the target market of your website to keep them interested to find out about the results.

After all, please be make sure to embed the tracking code inside your blog for analyzing your achievement. This can be an indicator for you to set a future target on gaining more visitors to your blogs.

Having Fun With Your Photos

tutorial October 5th, 2007

Today, I’m studying a subject on Database Management. But the topics were really hard for me to understand, so I’m doing some surfing and succeeded in making fun on my own photo.

First, create a photo ID for myself. Owhh, damn it..being a pervert!

Second, make a magazine cover that featuring my picture..

Then, a poster for Box-Office movie ‘A kitchen Love’.

A calendar that showing me and my ex-girlfriend. This will be a controversial for her, what’s wrong with that?

And then, I made a set of polaroid for Rumpun 2007..Does it look better?

One some more? Enough for today, I’m want to continue my study. If you want to make yourselves a nicely done poster, polaroid or calendar, the website is here : http://bighugelabs.com/flickr Go make fun on yourselves or others within a second. Don’t use it for violence, respect others!

Inspiring Yourselves For Self-Improvement

Self Improvement October 5th, 2007

They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks… or can they? So we’re all pelted with problems. Honestly it shouldn’t even bother or even hinder us to becoming all we ought to be. Aspirations as kids should continue to live within us, even though it would be short lived or as long as we could hold on to the dream. Still I aspire for something deeper and more meaningful.

  •  Should I really change?
Today’s generation has taken another level of redefining ’self’, or at least that’s what the kids are saying. Having an army of teenage nieces and nephews has taught me that there are far worse things that they could have had than acne or maybe even promiscuity. So how does that fit into your lifestyle?

If history has taught us one thing, it’s the life that we have gone through. Try to see if partying Seventies style wouldn’t appeal to the younger generation, but dancing is part of partying. Watch them applaud after showing them how to really dance than break their bones in break-dancing.

  • Am I comfortable with what I’m doing?
There’s always the easy way and the right way when it comes to deciding what goes with which shoes, or purse, shirt and whatnot. It doesn’t take a genius to see yourself as someone unique, or else we’ll all be equally the same in everything we do. Variety brings in very interesting and exciting questions to be experimented.
  • What motivates me?
What motivates you? It’s an answer you have to find out for yourself. There are so many things that can make everyone happy, but to choose one of the may be the hardest part. It’s not like you can’t have one serving of your favorite food in a buffet and that’s it. Just try it piece by piece.
  • Am I happy at where I am today?
It’s an unfair question so let it be an answer! You love being a good and loving mom or dad to your kids, then take it up a notch! Your kids will love you forever. The same goes with everyday life!
  • How much could I have?
I suppose in this case there is no such things on having things too much or too little, but it’s more on how badly you really need it. I’d like to have lots of money, no denying that, but the question is that how much are you willing to work for it?
  • What do I really want?
The question of the ages. So many things you want to do with your life and so little time to even go about during the day.

Find something that you are good at can help realize that small step towards improvement. Diligence is the key to know that it is worth it.

  • What’s the bright side in all of this?
With so much is happening around us there seem to be no room for even considering that light at the end of the tunnel. We can still see it as something positive without undergoing so much scrutiny. And if it’s a train at the end of the tunnel, take it for a ride and see what makes the world go round!
  • Have I done enough for myself?
Have you, or is there something more you want to do? Discontentment in every aspect can be dangerous in large doses, but in small amounts you’ll be able to see and do stuff you could never imagine doing.
  • What Really Makes You Tick?
So? What really makes you tick? You can be just about anything you always wanted to be, but to realize that attaining something that may seem very difficult is already giving up before you even start that journey. Always remember, that self-improvement is not just about the physical or philosophical change you have to undergo, but it’s something that you really want.
  • Am I appealing to the opposite sex?
So maybe I don’t have an answer to that, but that doesn’t mean I can’t try it, though. Whether you shape-up, change the way you wear your clothes or hair, or even your attitude towards people, you should always remember it will always be for your own benefit.

No matter how are the question that being asked to you, you are the one who know yourselves better than others. As a startup, try the above 10 question to yourself and answered them honestly
